London alt-rockers Sad Boys Club have finally announced their debut record, ‘Lullabies From The Lightning Tree’, set for release on May 5th. With the announcement, they have also unleashed lead single ‘To Heal Without A Scar (Is A Waste Of A Good Wound)’. Since their inception in late 2017, this diligent quartet have cut their teeth on the live circuit, relentlessly touring with a batch of massive names, but now comes the time for the spotlight to be on them, and only them.
‘To Heal Without A Scar’ is a brooding moment for the band, a modern response to 80s new wave, blending the style with angular riffs and a jangly choruses; a unique concoction, but provides testament to Sad Boys Club’s unique and refreshing take on guitar music. Jacob Wheldon’s vocal work is frantic, almost hinting at early 2000s post-hardcore with his vocal cadence and melodic sensibilities. The band merge a plethora of styles, creativity and innovation clearly being paramount within their sound. The gargantuan nature of ‘To Heal Without A Scar’ could easily see them taking on arenas in the future, the sonic landscape they have designed being heavy and crushing, while also maintaining a beautifully melodic edge.
This brand-new rock anthem from the quartet is an exceptional lead into their debut record, one that has been eagerly awaited since their burst onto the London, and since British, scenes in late 2017. Their small but devoted underground following is sure to blossom into vaster audiences with the debut record, and more tracks like ‘To Heal Without A Scar (Is A Waste Of A Good Wound)’ will do nothing but reward them with more interest and success.
