Indie Rock Artist HM Johnsen released his new single ‘Stay Within Range’ recently so we asked him what his answers to these sins would be…
LUST: Who or what do you find yourself lusting after currently, and why?
I really, really want to play live again! We haven’t played live since October/November 2019. I am planning to make an ‘alternative release’ concert on Youtube, where we will be together with the band for a week, and film every day. End up with playing a full live-show in full HD, with no audience. Strange, but cool. So, yeah…. my answer is to be able to play live again!
GREED: What should you be cutting down on, and why?
At the moment I want to start cutting down on my worries. I go around worrying about things that are not really that important. This turns often into stress, and it ruins my creativity and musical ‘mode’. I have this life goal to end up in my 60`s and be like those Kung Fu monks you see in the movies. Siting on the top of a mountain, with just no stress, no worries and a bucket full of knowledge. But in my case, maybe in a studio somewhere in the woods of Norway. So…. yes, worry less, and don’t stress about small daily situations.
GLUTTONY: What one thing could you happily consume limitless amounts of, and why?
We have this snack in Norway called ‘Sørlandschips’. Dipping this in a spicy mix together with sour cream is insanely good, and extremely bad for your health. I would probably die happily.
SLOTH: Stop being so lazy! What is the thing you should be putting more effort in to at the moment, and why?
My supposedly 5 days a week jogging routine. I’m supposed to run 5,5 km, 5 days a week til i get married, which is in 3 weeks. I am so looking forward to the wedding, and I really have to keep up my running to be able to fit in the suit. I’ve been a bit lazy with reaching my goal with this 5 times a week thing… but again, I’m a normal human being.
WRATH: Who or what grinds your gears, and why?
There’s really not that much that ‘grinds my gears’. When I see or experience different things, or people that annoy me, I usually end up not caring. I always think, I’m better off with not thinking about it, and going on about my own business. But if there is something that I have to put out that really makes me angry / ‘grinds my gears’ it would a certain president in a certain big country with a bald headed eagle as a mascot.
ENVY: Who are you jealous of, and why?
Honest answer coming up: I’m jealous of every artist/musician I know that reaches success! I’m jealous in a good way, it often gets me motivated to still try to chase this career. But, yeah I’m jealous of people who get to play their music to people around the world on a daily basis.
PRIDE: Answers on a boast card! What is your proudest achievement?
Musically: Finishing my upcoming EP (November) I have never, ever, ever in my life been more focused or more ‘into’ a project like this one! In life: Getting Married with my wife!
