National Theatre streaming: Final NT Live shows revealed – how to watch last releases

National Theatre has been providing theatre-lovers with a fantastic service since lockdown started. Every week, one of their groundbreaking shows has been available to stream to free, however, the service is now coming to an end. The final group of shows has now been revealed, so fans can enjoy them in the comfort of their own home.

The Madness of King George

This week, The Madness of King George arrives on YouTube, making its debut at 7pm on Thursday, June 11.

This Nottingham Playhouse version of Alan Bennett’s iconic stage play stars Sherlock creator Mark Gatiss as King George III, who is the most powerful man in the world as the play begins.

However, with his mind unravelling at a dramatic pace, ambitious politicians and a scheming prince threaten to undermine the power of the crown.

Small Island

The epic stage version of Andrea Levy’s prize-winning novel, directed by Rufus Norris, will be streaming to mark Windrush Day 2020.

The official synopsis reads: “The play follows three intricately connected stories: Hortense yearns for a new life away from rural Jamaica, Gilbert dreams of becoming a lawyer, and Queenie longs to escape her Lincolnshire roots.

“Hope and humanity meet stubborn reality as the play traces the tangled history between Jamaica and the UK.”

Small Island comes to YouTube at 7pm on June 18, until 7pm on June 25

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Gwendoline Christie plays Titania in the Bridge Theatre’s immersive production from 2019, directed by Nicholas Hytner.

This version starred some well-loved British actors, including Oliver Chris, David Moorst and Hammed Animashaun

William Shakespeare’s show arrives on YouTube at 7pm on June 25 until 7pm on July 2

Amadeus

The official synopsis reads: “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young prodigy, arrives determined to make a splash.

“Awestruck by his genius, court composer Antonio Salieri has the power to promote his talent or destroy it.

“Seized by obsessive jealousy he begins a war with Mozart, with music and, ultimately, with God.”

Lucian Msamati is Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s iconic play, directed by Michael Longhurst and featuring live orchestral accompaniment by Southbank Sinfonia.

Amadeus arrives on YouTube at 7pm on July 16 until 7pm on July 23
